We have also been told to check whether the fish has been caught in the wild or has been farm raised, as this has a significant bearing on quality and value, as well.

As omega 3 fish oil has been shown to bring us significant health benefits, many of us find it far more convenient to consider getting our daily dosage through a supplement. As with any other purchase though, we have to be careful what we are buying. Not all supplements are created equally and we have to be very critical about this purchase.


Ensure that the supplement you are considering has been correctly distilled to remove the contaminants and toxins that you might otherwise find in a regular portion of fish. You should also evaluate the supplement to ensure that the type of fish selected is naturally high in DHA. Check for purification and molecular distillation and make sure that you can clearly see the breakdown on the label, between DHA and EPA. As far as dosage is concerned, it is recommended that an adult consider at least 2000 mg per day.

Consider the production process itself. There should not be any significant lapse of time between harvesting and processing, as fish oils can oxidize quickly, causing them to go rancid.

So long as you check out the manufacturing process and the quality of the finished item, you can be sure that the potential health benefits are significant and as an increasing number of important studies show, these supplements really should be part of your daily diet.
