There are different kinds of medications for the condition, including tropical creams, gels and oral medications.

In the recent times, the Nix creams have become less effective for scabies as they are becoming resistant to it. They suggest you apply a thin layer of the cream on your body, from the neck to the toe and rub it well. As far as scabies in infants is concerned, you should never apply these creams as they can be very harmful. For adults it is suggested you put the cream on and leave it on for a minimum of 8 hours to a maximum of 14 hours. In order to remove the tropical cream, you must wash it thoroughly. For the most part, one treatment is enough to ruin your skin or cause even more dangerous skin problems and secondary infections. However, in case of extreme scabies such as "crusted" or "Norwegian" scabies, your physician may perhaps recommend you use it in conjunction with invermectin which is an oral pill that was used to cure river blindness.
