Kuttanad in Alleppey is famously known as Rice bowl of Kerala region because of the big paddy fields. An important pilgrim center, St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Chruch is one of the ancient monuments in Alleppey. The church built by the Portuguese, Arthunkal St. Andrew's Forane Church, in the sixteenth century is another church which is visited by all tourists as it is much talked and known for its amazing architecture and historical importance. Ambalapuzha Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna is another such important pilgrim center built in traditional architectural style is famous for its mural paintings in Kerala. The tourists can enjoy the delicious porridge served in this temple.
Alleppey tourist attractions also include the eighteenth century palace, Krishnapuram Palace. An excellent architecture with many antique pieces stored, this palace would be a treat to watch. It goes without saying that Alleppey beach for the beautiful scenery it offers and along with an ancient lighthouse is the heart of Alleppey.
