Australia Coach Sheens Guard Against The New Look England
While the Kangaroos name unchanged after the first half to win 42-0 in Papua New Guinea, the new look team in England even up to 11 staff positions and swaps are people who went to New Zealand last Saturday's tournament opener.
Three players were awarded for their Test debut, while young gun Sam Tomkins has moved back Sean O'Loughlin and Luke Robinson to form a new half-giant combination.
South Sydney Sam Burgess is back with the brilliance admitted the changes would cause some problems with the kangaroos. "I think some changes are very good and dangerous to us, especially the fullback and Sam (Burgess) in front of me," said brilliance. "This will give him the ball more.
" More balls, get more space and full-back could be more concerned about what we are. "England coach Steve McNamara denies he come unglued his team needed a victory to keep alive the hopes of the tournament."We've just selected the team which we think is the right team to play against Australia," he said.
"We are pretty comfortable with what we've got there, the personnel that we've kept we're very happy with and there's some young boys there who are ready to play and we feel it's the right time."The moves of Tomkins to the number one jumper where he starred for Wigan during this year's Super League season comes at the expense of Melbourne Storm youngster Gareth Widdop.
"It frees him up a bit there in terms of not running the team around the park as much," McNamara said of the switch."He's a very good broken field runner as we've seen and that gives him the opportunity to roam around a little bit."With Sheens sticking with the same side which trounced the Kumuls, it appears the current squad of 17 has the inside running to play in the November final provided the Australians qualify.
But Sheens says there is still room for movement within the squad, with those not having played so far likely to get a run against New Zealand next week should the Kangaroos guarantee a finals berth with a win over England.
"It's the side that played last week so we want to build on that we know how hard this game is going to be and the next one as well," Sheens said."This side's got to play well this week to keep (the other squad members) out."
