Automatic Dosa Making Machine - CSIR - CFTRI Technology

In India, morning breakfast with dosa is enjoyable and its taste really fantastic and memorable one. Preparing dosa in Canteens, Hotels, Hostels, Exhibitions, Fairs and large establishments is very difficult task by manual preparation. The necessity of this machine made Central Food Technology Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore 570 020, India to work on this and developed a dosa machine design. What is the invention is all operations are untouched by hand. This is the first of its kind and it lends itself for continuous production of ready-to-eat/serve Dosas.

Process of all operations in the Dosa making - from batter dispersion, depositing and spreading on the hot plate to toasting / roasting and oil application are organized in a systematic way. There is a time setting for residency time to get hot dosas. The hot Dosas are rolled and discharged at the end of operation. One unskilled person is enough to take these rolled dosas.

The device is backed with variable speed drive arrangement and an effective control for LPG to select time, temperature and output combinations. The machine can be used for preparation of Dosas of different kind and sizes. It is most suitable for use in Industrial Canteens, Hotels, festivals, large gatherings etc., where Dosas can be prepared on a large scale.

Capacity of this machine is 400 Dosa per hour and Number of dosas can be increased or decreased by setting time. Electricity is required in 440 V AC and LPG gas connection option is available for this machine. The size of the Machine is 3m x 3m.

The machine was developed by CFTRI, Mysore and it was kept for public demonstration at the CSIR Technofest 2010 organised Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, New Delhi during November 14-27, 2010 at New Delhi, India.
