Baha Mar Resort In The Bahamas Celebrates First Anniversary Of Groundbreaking

One year after the historic groundbreaking of the ultra-luxurious Baha Mar Resort in the Bahamas

, the Chairman has announced that 25 per cent of the development has now been completed.

The first anniversary was marked with a ceremony attended by Baha Mar Ltd., China Construction Americas management and employees, who all joined together to celebrate the progress of the resort which will offer luxurious Bahamas holidays for discerning tourists when it opens in December 2014.

The resort is set to be the largest single-phase resort in the Caribbeans history and it will feature a collection of luxury Bahamas hotels including distinguished hoteliers such as Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, Morgans Hotel Group, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, and a world-class Casino Hotel that will offer 2,250 new rooms.

Baha Mar's Chairman and CEO, Sarkis Izmirlian, stated: "Not only has construction started, but also the building of the iconic Baha Mar brand has begun. In 2011, we launched our new logo and brand identity and we will soon unveil a new website and begin pre-construction sales of our private residences"

Situated on the beautiful New Providence Island, the resort will provide luxury holidays in the Bahamas for sophisticated travellers.

The resort will feature a 50,000 square-foot retail village with upscale shops and local Bahamian arts and crafts, restaurants and entertainment venues; a 20-acre Eco Water Park and pool experience and three luxury spas, including the largest spa in the Caribbean; an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Course; the largest convention centre in the Bahamas with 200,000 square-feet of space that will be used both for business and as an entertainment and sports arena; and a 100,000 square-foot casino which will be the largest gaming complex in the Caribbean.

Cable Beach has been transformed into the mile-long West Bay Street with six acres of picturesque natural wetlands, lakes and parks, and walking trails, gazebos and boardwalks.

Over the past twelve months, the Baha Mar Commercial Village has been constructed and it will be home to three financial institutions, a Police and Fire Station and the Pompey Market straw and crafts marketplace.

These initial infrastructure projects created 1,400 local jobs for Bahamians and once completed, the resort will not only offer the best accommodation and facilities for tourists going on holidays to the Bahamas, but it will also have helped provide approximately 12,000 jobs for local residents.
