Balancing Business And Philanthropy

As the son of a wounded World War II veteran and a nurse

, Elliott Broidy was raised with a dual understanding of success and service. Now, with nearly a half-century of entrepreneurial leadership and community service behind him, Elliott Broidy uniquely balances his passion for business and philanthropic endeavors. A long-time member of the Greater Los Angeles community, this self-made businessperson has leveraged his commercial acumen for the benefit of the community in which he resides, Los Angeles, California.

Numerous local charities and community organizations receive Broidys unwavering support, and he serves on many of their boards as well. The Wilshire Boulevard Temple and the Simon Wiesenthal Center are but two of the entities that know him as a board member. As a past Acting Commissioner of the Los Angeles Fire and Police Pension Fund and a member of the Los Angeles Police Foundation, Broidys wide ranging community involvement seems to know no bounds.

Giving back to his alma mater, The University of Southern California (USC), is one of Broidys other avenues of involvement. Two other organizations that he supports are Aviva and The Everychild Foundation, which help area families in many ways, whether through the alleviation of disease, or by fighting abuse, neglect, and poverty. Broidys major sponsorship of Target America helped many thousands of local children learn about the advantages of a drug-free lifestyle.

In fact, Elliott Broidy founded a pet project, so to speak, when he created Hounds for Heroes, which connects returning veterans with specially trained service dogs. In almost every case where the need exists, a service animal can profoundly improve the quality of life for a disabled veteran, who might otherwise face a much more difficult time adapting to civilian life.

National recognition for Elliott Broidys philanthropy and business efforts have been numerous. A recent recipient of the prestigious Raoul Wallenberg Award, Broidy was selected for his personification of Wallenbergs own ideals of courage, altruism, and hard-won success. The Congress of the United States has also recognized Broidys activities, formally commending him for service to nation and community.

In the authentic spirit of service to those around him, there seems no end to Broidys business and service projects, as he continues to strive to improve the wellbeing of his fellow Californians and veterans everywhere. If there is a need among his compatriots, Elliott Broidy will no doubt be one of the first on the scene to provide help and direction.
