An emergency can strike at any time and in that case it is better to be prepared with the necessary gear to help one to survive the situation

. The type of gear depends on whether the gear is for an office emergency, home, school or while travelling.

In case of a sudden mishap in the school the survival items necessary would be all that students or faculty would need in order to meet and overcome the disaster at least for a period of three days. The items that you buy or prepare by yourself must have a good shelf life. The kits must definitely contain the most important thing which is water. The normal items in an emergency kit for a child would be a cup, and some food bars that can be preserved for an extensive period. It would be better if the carry bag were the kind that could be strapped on so that you are ready to go any time.

Other items in the kit could be a blanket, a battery light, a set of emergency instructions, a roll of toilet paper, a whistle. All this could be packed in a nylon carry bag which has many external pockets or pouches for some medicines such as some plastic bandages and basic medicines.

The food should ideally consist of something that is not too elaborate and quite filling. However, it is important that it should be long lasting. The packing must be small and neat and preparation must be simple. It should not involve long preparation methods.

Emergency situations can occur when one is on the go. The gear required for surviving here would have to be appropriate to the situation. When travelling by car you would need a tow rope and also jumper cables just in case. Always keep a flash light with you preferably battery enabled. In addition, you could carry a fuse tester and also a tire pressure gauge. Car travelling would entail items such as a screwdriver, a knife which would help to get out in an emergency. Some even suggest items such as a snow shovel and a signal light of the revolving kind. Of course, you must not forget the core emergency items namely food and water.
