Beating Anxiety
Anxiety is caused by a whole host of different factors ranging from a certain event
in your life that has caused you to become anxious when you are faced with circumstances akin to that event and in some cases, anxiety can be a chemical imbalance in your brain which can be corrected by taking the right medication.
The key to beating anxiety is that you should speak to a professional to determine exactly what the cause of your anxiety is. It will take few talk therapy session for your therapist to discover exactly what is causing your anxiety. In some cases, you might even need to go for a few blood tests to determine whether your condition is a chemical one.
Its important to never surrender hope if you are trying to beat anxiety. You might become very frustrated and downhearted and you might feel as if though treatment is not helping but you have to simply keep on at it and when you get down, you have to keep pushing forward no matter what.
If you are being treated with medication like Valium or Xanax you need to carefully note how these medications are affecting you. Its more than likely that your therapist will ask you to keep a diary in order to see just how the medication is affecting you. If you in anyway feel that the medication is making you feel worse than you did before you should speak to your therapist immediately so that your medication can be adjusted.
Important to remember that it will take as long as six weeks for the medication to take full effect and work into your blood stream so be patient and keep talking if you want to reach a stage where you are beating anxiety instead of anxiety beating you!
Of course there are also many natural ways to fight anxiety. One of the most popular natural, herbal remedies for anxiety is lavender. Lavender has long been known to have a very calming effect and it has been used from people who suffer from anxiety for years, even centuries.
There are a couple of ways to use it. You can put some dried lavender underneath your pillow so that the natural aromas can surround you when you are about to go to sleep. This is especially helpful for people who suffer from night time anxiety and it will help you sleep a bit easier.
Other people prefer to use liquid lavender. The drops can also be placed on your pillow or it can be carried with you in liquid form and inhaled or rubbed onto the skin when bouts of anxiety are experienced.
Chamomile is also great of calming nerves and it is most often taken in tea form right before bed.
Many other herbs are also great for beating anxiety and the upside of these herbs is, of course, that there are no side effects unlike with their pharmaceutical counterparts.
