Beginner Skateboarders News - Avoid These Performance Blunders

You're probably thinking, "Skateboarding looks easy enough

, I can do that - no problem!" It seems like all you do is push yourself off and then stay balanced. And surfing? That's no problem, all you're doing is standing still. But if you try it, you'll immediately discover skateboarding only "looks" easy. You must practice and develop your skills if you want to know how to do the tricks you think are so cool. What follows are some expert tips to decrease your learning time and increase your potential.

Please try to use the proper equipment. It can feel awkward to wear the safety gear: elbow/knee pads, helmut, shin guards. However, if you're really new to the sport, very quickly you'll be happy for wearing that gear. You'll soon find out that more time will be spent falling than actually skating, like learning to ride the bike. Learning how to stop yourself will be the one thing that may produce more bruises and scrapes for you. After a while, you may want to take off your protective/safety equipment. But the helmut is still advisable to wear. You only have one brain. So it's best to protect it should you ever seriously fall off.

Don't be concerned about skating slowly. You'll see a lot of beginner skateboarders trying to do those cool tricks before they really have the proper skills. Most of the time this only causes discouragement, frustration, and injuries. Successfully skateboarding a couple blocks is not the same as being able to safely perform a trick. Hopping with the skateboard is not as easy as you may realize. Start skating slowly and try to be steady, then when you're ready go for longer distances. Then learn how to start-off fast and stop yourself without falling. If you can skate long distances, smoothly, and can avoid hitting other people on the streets, then it's cool to start thinking about trying some tricks.

Learn the skaters jargon, and also learn the different kinds of skateboards. You'll find a wide variety of skateboards on the market. It's a good idea to learn the differences and what each one means to a skater. You'll find it'll help to be able to talk about skating in skater's terms. If you do that you'll be able to ask for and get help with something.

You know there's more to skating than standing and riding a flat piece of board. Skateboards are a valid way to travel short distances like going to work in the cities, and they're really fun to ride. Have an open mind to learning, and that will be the trick that will make you better.
