I am usually not one for supplements. If you flip through every muscle magazine, you will see probably half of the magazine covered in advertisements talking about their latest fat burning pill that promises you a lean, ridiculously six pack in just 6 weeks. I mean, just look at Joey Frankenstein in the before and after pictures. Trust me, dont believe the hype because its really not worth the cost. However, there are some supplements that are great for fat loss that are not going to cost you an arm and a leg. They will help build some muscle and increase your metabolism naturally as you go through your entire fat loss journey. Here are just a few of these supplements that I suggest everyone should have.
Green Tea Extract Green tea has been around and been used for thousands of years. Lately, it has come out that green tea is a powerful antioxidant and has been found to rally up free radicals. These are harmful little bad guys that can destroy healthy cells within your body. Green tea also has been found to increase your metabolism. This is because of a compound found within the tea called ECGC.
Fish Oil Fish oil is probably a miracle supplement in the fact that it does every good thing for you. Each study that I have read about fish oil has only been positive regarding this healthy compound. You can find fish oil if you eat such fish as salmon, herring, mackerel, or sardines. Most people cant get that much fish in their diet each week so I usually recommend them to take the fish oil in capsule form. Fish oil has been found to aid in the decrease of body fat, decrease your risk of diabetes and even cut your risk of heart attack in half. Pretty powerful stuff. I even recommend my first anatomy and physiology teacher recommending this compound in our first class.
Creatine I chose to put creatine in this article because after all the hoopla about it since it came out, it has been found to be a safe compound. Your body naturally makes creatine phosphate for energy so I never once doubted that it would be bad for you. Creatine is another compound that has been found to aid in increasing the strength of the heart muscle and is even given to recovery heart attack victims. But what I like about creatine when someone is dieting is its muscle sparing effects. Basically, since there is more creatine within the muscle cell, you can push out those couple of extra repetitions. This in turn, will force your body to hold on to muscle in an extreme dieting phase.
