The main difference between these and the incandescent lights are that the incandescent lamps will waste a lot of electricity to run, although they can be positioned to shine pretty much in any direction. The LED lights will give you so-called 'pure lights', which usually are positioned in one direction only. In addition, the traditional lights are getting very hot very fast, while the LED lights are quite cool throughout.

When it comes to longevity, the LED lights can outlast the regular ones by as much as three times. Thus while initially the LED type lights are more expensive, their cost will be easily reduced with time because you don't have to keep changing the lightbulbs over and over again. So LED style lights are much more cost effective overall.

The best place to use them in the house are the kitchen and the bathroom. For example in the kitchen you can place them under the wall cabinets so you can see better when you're working on your kitchen work surfaces while preparing food. The light is usually pointed down exactly on the surface where you are working, which gives you the best illumination possible.

There are newer types of LED style lights that you can buy nowadays. They come in many interesting colors so you can actually use them to create various decor styles for your room. Of course for the bedroom you can always use softer tone lights to keep the ambient of the room calming and relaxing.

For better illumination in your home office you need some good gooseneck desk lamps with fluorescent lightbulbs.
