Moore, who leads the nation in passing efficiency, went 18-of-30 for 223 yards. The quarterback threw four TD passes in the first half. Moore has thrown 21 touchdown passes with just two picks on the season. Titus Young had eight catches for 115 yards and three TDs, including a 48-yarder in the third quarter. The year got uglier for the Warriors (2-5, 0-4), who have lost five consecutive games for the first time since 1998. The 45-point shellacking was Hawaii's worst since losing by 46 to USC in 2005.

Hawaii coach Greg McMackin acknowledged that the Broncos piled up the points early in the contest. Warriors' Bryant Moniz, who started the season as the third-string quarterback, made his third consecutive start for Hawaii, but the quarterback did not last long in the game. He sustained a concussion in the opening quarter and was replaced by Shane Austin. Austin did not perform well against the Broncos; he had three picks and threw one late scoring pass. In the second quarter, the Broncos scored 24 points, 17 of which were off three Hawaii turnovers. Boise State had lost their last two games in Aloha Stadium, where the Broncos are 4-4. Moore stated that his team needed a big victory. The quarterback did not think the Broncos played to their potential in the past two weeks. He admitted that Boise State performed well on both sides of the ball against the Warriors.

Greg Salas lost the football while trying to gain some extra yards and Boise State's Brand Thompson recovered on the Warriors' 14. Moore hit Austin Pettis on the next play to extend the lead 17-0. Austin got Hawaii downfield, but his pass was picked off in the end zone by Johnson. The Broncos scored five plays later, when Moore hooked up with Young on a 24-yard strike to put Boise State up 24-0. On an 80-yard drive, Pettis displayed his versatility, completing a 28-yard pass to Kyle Efaw. Young also reeled in a 10-yard TD pass, which made it 31-0 with 1:22 remaining in the half, but there was still enough time for Boise State to add a field goal before the break. Hunter White intercepted a pass by Austin, leading to Kyle Brotzman's 28-yard field goal that gave the Broncos a 34-0 lead at halftime.
