Brand New For 2010-the Htc Wildfire
HTC have impressed with their high end smartphones that have hit the market in the past few months
, competing with the Apple iPhone and the high end Sony Ericssons. They have now focused their attention on producing a Smartphone but at the more budget end of the market with the new HTC Wildfire. So exactly how does this impressive looking model fair against the more powerful competitors available.
Firstly lets take a look at the design of the unit. At first glance the unit looks slightly squarer than others available, but this is no bad thing and in fact makes the phone stand out a little from the crowd. Measuring 106.7 x 60.4 x 12.9 mm, the phone weighs 118 grammes. Very similar in looks to the HTC Desire, the handset has neatly curved edges and certainly does not look cheap, even quite the opposite thanks to a distinctive metal band placed across the back of the phone. The screen featured on the Wildfire is a 3.2" TFT display. Capable of producing a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, the screen benefits from being a capacitive touchscreen rather than resistive. This means it is much more responsive to the users touch, and navigation around the various homescreens is quick and easy. An optical trackpad is also fitted to the unit to make navigation even easier.
A look at the multi media facilities on the HTC Wildfire show that the handset is certainly well specified. With regards to the camera facility, this boast a 5 mega pixel resolution which is fairly standard amongst smartphones. The snapper benefits from a host of other additional feature however that include an LED flash and autofocus, both features make taking good quality pictures even easier. The handset also supports geo tagging. The Wildfire is also capable of catching video footage and the results are quite impressive. With regards to Audio the handset supports various formats that include MP3, WAV and AAC. Video playback is also supported and the results look good on the phones screen. There is a gallery mode, designed to make viewing both video and photographs easier. The 512MB of internal memory is reasonable but can be increased by adding a microSD card, the handset supports sizes upto 32GB. The phone also features a 3.5mm headphone jack, giving the user the choice of which headphones they wish to listen to their material on.
The HTC Wildfire is essentially a high end phone masquerading with the price of a more mid ranged handset. The phone looks an excellent option for either new smartphone users or people wishing to upgrade without diving straight in at the deep end of the smart phone world.
