Brow Lift: Get The Basics On This Effective Surgery

, yet something does not seem right. Maybe you appear to be aging faster than you had expected, and struggle with obvious creases across your forehead. Believe it or not, there is a specific surgery to get rid of those pesky creases, call a brow lift. It can take years off your appearance, resulting in a smooth forehead that makes you look worry-free and years younger.

You can expect this kind of surgery to occur at an outpatient facility in most cases, and it can usually be finished within a few hours. You will likely be given local anesthesia to numb the area to be worked on, but you will still be awake during the operation. You can then usually return home the same day of your brow lift, making it quite a simple operation considering the big results it delivers.

There are two main types of this procedure. One is the conventional kind, in which your doctor selects a well-hidden area to make an incision, usually along your hairline from ear to ear. Your forehead skin will be lifted up so that excess tissue and skin can be taken out, and your eyebrows moved up. Then the doctor will smooth out the skin once again and sew up the incision. You can expect to go home with a bandage wrapped around your head, which can be removed in about two days.

Another type of brow lift involves using an endoscope, or a tiny microscope that allows the doctor to see what he or she is doing on a monitor. In this case, you will not get one long incision, but rather several tiny cuts. During the process, excess skin and tissue will be removed as in the other kind of surgery, and then temporary stitches will be sewn to the area to hold the newly positioned forehead in place. With this method, your hair will not usually have to be shaved or cut as in the method previously described, as there is no need to hide a long incision since these cuts are much smaller.

You and your surgeon will decide the best brow lift technique for you. You will also talk about whether you are a good candidate, and the risks and side effects should also be explained to you. In the end, you should find that this is a rather simple operation that will result in a more youthful appearance for you.
