Bullying Must Stop In Our Public Schools---Now !

Bullying Must Stop Now !

Bullying Must Stop Now !

byTom Livsey,national news editor,

Its time to stop bullying in our schools...Now ! Its time to be preemptive in our ways to address, confront and even fight the natures of all forms of Bullying Forever.

Maybe if schools, principals, teachers, PTA officials, parents and community leaders can come together and rid this beast from our school systems, perhaps it will not be too late for some of the bullied victims of the past, to be able to create at least a few positive school year memories that can help them through their adult lives ahead.

For those of us who made it through our school years, many of us can now reflect on some of our experiences, as good ones. However, we all can remember some experiences that were not as pleasant.

For the most part, these negative moments were just that...brief bad moments out of a long twelve year school career. In fact, our school years were and should be today, years for us all to reminence about the good old days of our youth, right ?

But, what if these bad memories occupied more than just a few moments ? What if most, if not all of your school year memories were filled with daytime nightmares, that will not ever go away, at school, at home, awake or even when you fall asleep? Well that is what's happening today all over our nation, from the first grade to the senior year. Bullying has resurfaced and is more prevailant today in our public schools, more than what most adults can even imagine!

While those who are bullied are pretty much the same, the form of today's bullies take on many shapes. Some are not that alarming at the onset. The bullying playing field has expanded with the thanks of technology.

Now the school yard is not the only place where bullies wait to pounce on unexpected victims. Likewise, due to the expansion of the bullying field to an internet presence, the shape, size and gender of the bully suprisingly has changed, too !

Can you believe it ? School aged girls are the fastest growing market of new day bullies. Since the hi-tech bully does not need to resort to physical combat, this is a fast growing market of "Mental Bullying or Cyberbullying ", a much more intense way to drive the victim crazy. Mental Bullying which is dominated by innocent looking girls, like your daughter, but who can also be the school's biggest kingpen cyber bully .

Social media sites like myspace, youtube and facebook, which were initially created for a more adult audience, is increasingly being exploited by underaged students to wield their madness toward fellow schoolmates, who for some reason, have found themselves outside of their schools, "Click or Group ".

So on the day before "Back to School", when most normal students are preparing their back packs, sharpening their pencils, filling their folders with loose leaf notebook paper, and excited with anticipation about the new school year, a bullied victim has much more on their mind.

Can you imagine what's on their mind ? Well I can tell you what's on their mind tonight. "Oh No...Not again...Not another school year filled with bullies...Can I survive another year of humiliation" ? Who can I turn to for help ?

This past weekend, I rode along with my best friend, who I refer to as my big brother, as he drove around the community offering fresh cuts of meat, at bargain prices. He is the national trainer for The Cattle Exchange Corporation. I hadn't seen him in over four months. Saturday was a great opportunity for us to shoot the breeze, if you will.

After about six hours of canvessing several local cities, we were about ready to call it quits, that's when we turned in a modest size subdivision off Centerville Hwy. We turned down aa street and came upon a couple of women sitting in front of their house.

Charles walked down to chat with them. A couple of minutes later he returned to retrive a box of steaks and baby back ribs. I helped him carry the box of fresh meats.

I introduced myself, and immediately one of the women asked me if I was related to the well knowned Livsey family of Snellville Georgia? I responded, " Yes " ! She followed with another question. The mother asked, " Is that huge new school down the street named after your family? Again I said..."Yes" !

Her next question floored me. She asked my a straightforward question that I do not have the answer to yet. She asked me, " What are you going to do about bullying in the Shiloh Cluster Schools ? This time my answer got caught between my tongue and the end of my lips...my final answer was, " I do not know, but I will find you the answer " !

I asked her to elaborate, as I handed her my business card. I could tell that it was painful for her to remember, but she proudfully described the hell that her son had gone through last year at Shiloh High School, as a freshman.

She continued to share that the main source of the bullying came from the high school's football team. Even after several attempts to persuade the coaches to monitor their players, the hostility continued.

At that moment, her bullied son who is entering the tenth grade this year, walked out the front door. In an attempt to shield my conversationn between me and his mother, I backed off while my friend Charles completed the debit card order of the box of meats.

However, the bright intuitive son, who looks like any other intelligent high school student, asked his mother who I was. She showed him my business card. She told him that the huge brand new school down the street, is named after my family, along with the many streets in the area with the same name.

His cheeks becamed flushed and his line of sight was directed towards me, as he grasped out load..."Wow ...That's Cool, Right ! Then his mom replied, " Yeah, that's really cool, son " ! He just stared at me, as if I was a celebrity of some sort.

I just stared back at him, and for the first time, I felt the pressures as a real local celebrity. Moreover, I realized it was my best chance to make a profound impression on a youth who needs to have someone in his corner this school year. So, I had him stand up to me and look me in the eyes.

I handed him my business card. I told him that I was the best runningback in Gwinnett County years ago, but a real football player would not waste their time trying to bully others, because on the football field are full of enough bullies for them to think about playing against, this fall ! In addition, I told him to call me personally, if he is ever the target of Bullying. I don't think he has anything to worry about now !

So, starting on the first day of school in 2010, bullied school victims in Gwinnett County can come to me. I will help you get the needed attention, in order to stop students from abusive behavior.

I am a national news editor for a dozen news sites, including the owner of Snellville-OurTown.com news sites, along with four other city news sites in Gwinnett County, Georgia. I promise to get you the proper attention from authorities who can help rid this mouse from your existance.
