Such simple design is formal, but not interesting enough to retain one's attention. Aside from the name of the individual or the company, the business card also bears the street address, contact numbers such as telephone, fax and cellphone, email address and web site. All these information would be put to waste if the recipient of the card will simply dispose the card after receiving it. The trick is to make a business card design so visually interesting that the recipient will want to keep the card.

Business card design has significantly changed in the last couple of years. The white cards with black text, which used to be the standard, are no longer the norm. These days, business card design is created with top-notch quality. They are often colored, sometimes featuring full-color photographs. Those without pictures are printed with spot colors from a sheet-fed offset printing presses. Some business cards even have raised prints, those which appear engraved on paper. Metal business cards, those which come in the form of gold and silver-colored aluminum, resemble credit cards. This is proof that business card design continues to evolve at present.
