Camping Trailer Tips: Finding A Campground
Taking camper trailers out is one of the most pleasurable experiences of the summer
, and one of the things that you'll have to think about when taking your camper trailer out is where you are going to park it while you enjoy your trip. Not only do you have to worry about the ultimate destination that you are heading to, but you also need to think about what you are going to do along the way as you travel. Knowing where you are going to park for the night, and having your stopping locations mapped out will save you much time and frustration.
First, you should decide where you are going to stop along the way. A camper trailer will generally fit in most hotel and motel parking lots, depending upon how big it is, but if you don't want to pay for a motel or hotel room, and want to stay in your camper trailer instead, there are some options. Many RV parks will rent out spaces by the night and KOA Campgrounds, and other campground areas are available across the country. Also, most state and national parks will let you park your RV, and Wal-Mart allows RV's and Camper Trailers to park over night in the parking lot.
Once you have determined where you are going to stop on the way to your destination, you must choose the destination itself. Where you end up depends upon how many modern conveniences you want. For instance, if you want to have running water and electricity while you are camping, and you don't have a generator and a large water tank, then you may want to choose a campground that has a hose hook up and allows you to plug in to their power source. These campgrounds often have activities as well, shops and even restaurants.
If you want to truly rough it, as much as you can in a camper trailer anyway, then you may want to choose a national park or some type of camping spot that is out in the woods. That way, you can have a soft place to sleep at night, and whatever other amenities that your camper offers, plus the beauty of nature. Make sure that you do pick a location that has a decent road to it, so that if there is a rain or a freak snow storm you won't be stranded out in the wilderness. Make sure that your camping trailer can get out of whatever location that you choose.
Finding a campground can be done easily using the internet. There are several websites that you can use to look up camping spots and areas where it is legal to park your camping trailer. Make sure that you are aware of the laws regarding parking a camping trailer overnight so that you don't end up with a ticket on your vacation. Also, be sure that you have enough supplies and emergency equipment if you end up going out into the wilderness.
