Career In Nursing
A nurse, also known as sister in hospitals is the one who plays a very important
role in the recovery of the patient, she is in a way, is the backbone of the hospitals. Doctors are no doubt the primary source for the patients betterment, but a nurse helps and supports the doctor in the overall betterment of the patient. Doctors role in many cases is of the managerial position and its the nurse, who actually executes the directions given by the doctor. Like doctors are given the status of life savers all over the world, same is the case with nurses; they are a very important tool for the patients recovery. The demand of the nurses has grown manifold with the growth of the healthcare sector in the country, and nurses are also the largest number of workers employed by the health sector.
Students with medical background, other than options like doctors, medical researchers, biotechnologists, surgeons, physicians, also opt for career in nursing. The number of girl students opting for course in nursing is much higher than that of the girls, due to the patience and the assistance management skills required in this profession. Today the nursing job is not only limited to the care taking process of the patients in the general wards, on a senior level, as they gain experience, they are also required to handle and manage the patients with mental disorders, or with psychological disorders, depending on the department or the area they are working in.
Students aiming for career in nursing are required to have a medical background, after they can opt various
nursing course, such as, B Sc. in nursing, Military Nursing, General Nursing and Midwifery, health worker, M Sc. in nursing, etc. Nursing course as a Health worker or Auxiliary Nurse Midwife can even be done by students after passing their secondary school examinations. Many states have opened nursing colleges, to facilitate the requirement of the nurses in the hospitals and medical centres in the respective states. There are about 500

The field of medicine is totally dependent on nursing, it is just incomplete without nursing in its basket. A student pursuing course in nursing needs to be very patient and should be ready to work in all types of conditions, with all category of patients. Management of patients and handling their problems personally is the strength of any successful nurse, therefore, students in the nursing field are made to be tolerant and calm. Practical training is also given to make them view the practicality of the profession, which is a part of their course.
The demand of nurses is also at high in the foreign countries; nurses from states like west Bengal and kerela are mostly seen travelling to foreign lands to practise their profession in nursing. Skilled and efficient nurses are also seen practising in the critical departments of the medicine like ICU, psychological, ER, etc. Thus we can see a bright and secured career in nursing for students across the world.
