Catering a Buffet Meal - Tampa Bay Catering

You need to finalize a few things for yourself before you hire a catering service. For one thing, you need to know exactly how many people will be attending your event. You must insist on RSVP's to get an accurate idea of the number of guests who will come. Even then, there still might be a few people who can't make it at the last moment, so estimate for around 5 to 10 percent of invitees not showing up. Keeping this in mind, you can then brief the catering service to give you a quotation based on these figures so that you do not end up ordering too much food and beverages.

The other aspect you need to freeze on is the type of buffet you want. Do you want a standard buffet or would you prefer a barbecue buffet? The advantage with a barbecue event is that it is not formal and lends itself to a more relaxed ambience with your guests happily interacting with each other informally. Avoid a barbecue dinner in winter as it would be too cold to be outdoors for any length of time, unless you're in California, of course!

If you don't opt for a barbecue, you can choose from a number of different cuisines for your buffet such as Italian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Indian, etc. Actually, Indian food can work out quite well for a barbecue with kebabs; roti's and so on, using a clay tandoor or oven. You might even consider serving a combination of two or three types of cuisine, thereby offering your guests a greater, and more varied, selection of food. Do try to keep track of how many vegetarians there may be as you would like to give them a good choice too.
