Celebrate The Gift Of A New Baby Through A Baby Shower

Baby showers are a great way from the expectant mother and her closest friends and family members to celebrate the upcoming birth of the new baby

. As you plan the baby shower, remember that you don't have to plan anything overly extravagant; the baby shower is more about celebrating the new baby and less about throwing a huge party. You don't have to break the bank to plan a fantastic baby shower. Remember that it really is the thought that counts, so as long as you plan the shower with love, everyone will have a great time.

While many expectant mothers have someone to plan their baby shower for them, not everyone has that luxury. If you are planning the shower yourself, the location is an important factor to take into consideration during the planning. Although you may want to have the shower at your home, that might end up being a mistake. Remember that every day you are pregnant is an adventure, so just because you feel up to having the shower at your house right now, that doesn't mean you will want to once the day of the shower arrives. For this reason you may want to ask a friend if you can have the baby shower at their house. Chances are your friend will be more than happy to help you with the planning, so you won't feel stressed at the prospect of having a party at your house. And when the shower is at someone's home, this allows you to have a leisurely shower and actually enjoy yourself.

Once you decide on a location, you should choose a shower theme and/or colors. If you are having a girl, don't feel that you have to stick to the traditional pastel pink. Likewise, having a boy doesn't mean that you have to decorate the shower in only blue and white. It can be fun to incorporate some of the personal style of the mom into the shower decorations. If the new baby is a girl, consider decorating with pink and brown, or pink and black in order to give the shower a chic, sophisticated feel. If the baby is going to be a boy, consider using navy blue and offset it with a light green or yellow. If the mom doesn't know the sex of the baby, yellow, orange, and cream are great colors to consider.

Of course the focus of the baby shower is mom-to-be, but that doesn't mean that your guests won't want snacks. You don't have to have a four course meal for the guests, but you don't want the guests to be so hungry that all they can think about is leaving the shower and going to have a meal. If you are doing minimal food, you can never go wrong with small sandwiches, fruit, cheeses, crackers, and of course cake.

It is common for expectant mothers to have more than one baby shower, however, if that is not an option, it can be tricky to try and combine friends and family at the same shower. In order to cut down on awkward moments between your guests, you may want to consider having ice breaker games where your guests can work in teams to win prizes and get to know one another in the process.
