If you are in high school then you probably think quite a bit about the futurethe short-term future and the long-term future. What will you do with your life? What kind of house will you buy and what kind of job will you take? Wait a minutedid you notice something peculiar about that last sentence? What kind of job will you take? Think about that question. Taking a job implies a feeling of obligation, as if you are accepting an assignment that you had to think over. At this point in your life, taking a job should not be your goal. You dont want to settle for a job that youre qualified for. On the other hand, you want to aim high and find the dream job you have always wanted! Is this realistic? Yes. Lets discuss for a moment what isnt realistic. Working a job you hate in a career field that you dont really like. Growing old at this job and taking whatever assignment the boss gives you. Wishing that you took a different path when youre in your mid-life crisis! How realisticor should we sayhow happy is this scenario? Unfortunately, peer pressure can get the best of us. Our society tells us that you will never achieve anything. That only a few select people will ever accomplish great things. You know, the college graduates, royal families and children who were born into wealth. Wrong! In fact, there are many people that have achieved power and wealth that came from very humble backgrounds. What matters is how dedicated you are to dreaming and to taking action. Whether you are looking forward to a college education or are planning to go into business with just a high school diploma doesnt really matter. There are endless opportunities for you out there to thrive in an industry that you love. You have many resources to fall back on, such as Internet technology and the contacts you have made here throughout your schooling. You have taken in knowledge on a variety of subjects and so are more informed than the average person on your favorite subject. You are better equipped right now to go out and achieve your dreams then students your age were 50 years ago. You have an education. You have ideal circumstances. All you need now is the confidence to go out there and take a chance. At the end of your life, you will absolutely not regret following your heart. You will only regret the lost opportunities. Make a resolve to keep chasing the dream throughout your high school years and beyond.About the Author:
