Chicago Chevy Camaro dealer excited for customers to see new smartphone options

Three decades ago auto makers were scrambling to keep up with the latest music systems, from 8-tracks to cassettes to CDs. Now it's on to MP3 compatibility and that's just the beginning. Most buyers expect a full array of technological gadgets and they had better be compatible with the phone.

Chicago Chevy Camaro buyers can rest easy, as Chevy has come up with a smartphone system called MyLink which lets the driver use apps on their phone to run controls in the car. The system can be used with BlackBerry, Android and iOS.

Right now only the Pandora and Stitcher apps are compatible, but be brave more are on the way. Interaction with the apps happens vocally with Nuance or with the touchscreen display if you have a Volt or an Equinox. Glendale Heights used auto customers will appreciate the simplicity of this app.

So if you love infotainment features and live for your wireless connection, you must check out the Chevy Volt and Equinox. The newest models, coming soon to a showroom near you, will feature the latest packages with the safety of OnStar and services from the likes of Pandora and Stitcher SmartRadio with hands-free or touch-screen controls.

"There is a new generation of car buyers who don't want to settle for mass market radio," Rick Scheidt, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing, explained. "They want to create their own individual stations and have access to them wherever they are. Chevrolet vehicles have offered customers the ability to use portable media devices since 2006 and the introduction of MyLink takes media personalization to a new level."

MyLink will build on the Bluetooth hands-free capability already offered on Chevy vehicles by adding wireless control of smart phones and stereo audio streaming. Your Chicago Chevy Camaro dealer is excited about this new technology because it's what customers have been demanding.

Vehicles with MyLink will have a seven-inch full-color, high-resolution touch screen display that allows for simple and safe navigation of the media the driver wants to access. The MyLink system will keep all existing technology connections, but add this innovative hands-free, all-in-one capability.

"Chevrolet MyLink is the next logical step for in-vehicle connectivity," touted Karl Stracke, vice president for Global Product Engineering. "MyLink leverages the mobile broadband capability and the sophisticated, online services made possible by today's smart phones."

Glendale Heights used auto customers will see MyLink utilize programs such as Nuance, Pandora and Gracenote, which will help manage the different technologies combined into the MyLink system. This is just one more way American ingenuity has manifested in the Chevrolet line and they likely have more tricks up their proverbial sleeve. We'll have to wait and see.
