Related studies echo the results published in the aforementioned study.In the "Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics," 1995, the risk comparison between neck adjustments for neck pain and the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) resulted in neck adjustments as being much safer by as much as a factor of several hundred times.Research published in 2001 in the "Canadian Medical Association Journal" puts the risk at one in 5.85 million for neck adjustments.

Overall, most research points to the risk being from one to two cases per million neck adjustments, which is lower than getting struck by lightning or dying while playing soccer or skiing, and much lower than comparative treatments.
