Choose a Newspaper Advert Size That Fits Your Needs by:Shaun Edwards

One of the unfortunate aspects about conducting any business is reliance upon the

so-called experts to help you decide your best choice, method, plans or anything else you need to be a success. In most situations this person is a sales professional and is obviously motivated by making the sale. The successful sales professionals will spend a good deal of time listening, studying and lending their expertise to meet business owner needs.

So, one must be wary if a newspaper sales representative pitches full-page, full colour advertisement that is the most expensive offering available. Not that a full-colour, full page advertisement isn't the correct choice for you to make but there are a number of considerations to make before you buy.

"What About The Laws Of Averaging..."

The laws of averaging always come into play when making a business investment for advertising - or anything that is directly or indirectly related to promoting your goods and services. Perhaps the cost for advertisement associated with promoting a sale should be determined based upon the business's average retail sale amount.

There are differing opinions about budgeting for newspaper advertising and spending that budget on one large advertisement may not be in your best interest. Generally, newspapers are read for the information they contain and not for the advertisements. However, there have been some tried and true full page ads that historically adorn certain pages or sections of your local newspaper. The back pages of sections are normally reserved for full-page advertisements and you'll find everything from automotive to double glazing here.

"The Price Tag Can Change The Type Of Advert You Choose"

Some businesses swear by large, four-color ads that they say they believe attract the newspaper reader's attention, thus getting the business sales message across. Although this may be quite true and very productive for high-ticket products like an automobile, the price tag that comes along with buying a full-page, four-color advertisement might not work for a business offering small-ticket sales.

Another large and looming consideration when approaching placing newspaper advertising is the concept of repetition. Perhaps getting the best bang for your advertising buck is to make sure your sales message is not only seen by as many people as possible, but appears as often as your budget will allow.

Furthermore, if you subscribe to the notion most avid newspaper readers peruse the daily pages seeking information, then you'll most likely want to employ the size of an ad that can be placed alongside a news item. As the reader follows the news article, that person's eyes will - if the philosophy holds true - catch the business message placed nearby.

"Budget, Size and Repetition..."

After all, that's the reason for advertising to begin with, isn't it?

Therefore, determining the effectiveness of your business newspaper advertising campaign will not only be dictated by your pre-determined budget, but size selection will also play an important role as will advertising repetition.

Newspapers offer a number of different packages designed to provide you with a variety of choices. Before you make that choice however, why not gain an educated advantage by learning the 'unwritten laws of advertising" on the AdSense-On-Demand training course.
