Staying motivated to exercise is critical to your continued good health and receiving the numerous other benefits that can help you throughout your life. You do not want to miss out on these things.

The first thing you should think about when you are selecting your clothes to exercise in is how comfortable those clothes will be to exercise in. What kind of clothes you wear, whether it be sweats, shorts, or spandex, does not really matter as long as it is comfortable.

When you put on your clothes, move around a little bit to make sure that they do not rub in uncomfortable places. Bend over and make motions like you are exercising.

If you are planning to exercise outdoors during the winter you will want to consider wearing several layers of clothing, gloves, a scarf, a hat and non-slip shoes. These things will help protect you from hypothermia and slipping on the ice.

Be aware of the environment you are going to be exercising in and prepare accordingly. The shoes you choose to wear are particularly important.

For weight training and other low impact activities you will want to consider purchasing a cross-training shoe, running or walking shoes. These activities are fairly flexible as far as the shoe you can wear.

However, if you are going to be running, you will definitely want to select a good running shoe. When you run, your body impacts the pavement over and over.

If you are going to play soccer, you will want to buy the proper cleats. Otherwise you will be slipping on the field and you could injure yourself.

An injury could put an end to your ability to exercise for several months. At the end of this time period it could become much more difficult to exercise.

If you are going to be playing basketball, you will need to buy proper basketball shoes with the right ankle support. Many sports have specific shoes designed for them to help athletes prevent themselves from injuring themselves.

The third thing you will need to think about is whether your clothing will keep you safe. If you must exercise at night, make sure your clothing is light colored and has reflectors on it.


This will help night time drivers see you and avoid hitting you. You may feel ridiculous with reflectors on your clothing.

However, you will not feel ridiculous when they save your life repeatedly. Do not overlook your safety.
