Cleaning Tips For Common Mattress Stains

Dealing with mattress stains is clearly not a walk in the park

. Many of us don't know how to proceed with this chore. You can't really clean a mattress in the same manner you would use in cleaning other furniture. Soaking it in water is not advisable. Excess moisture inside the mattress can lead to the appearance of molds and mildew.

On the other hand, you can get rid of the stains if you know which cleaners to use. So here are some cleaning tips you should know:

1. Use distilled white vinegar for common food stains or sweat stains. White vinegar can also disinfect your mattress and get rid of molds and mildew. Mix one cup of distilled white vinegar with two cups of water. Place it in a spray bottle.

Spray the cleaning solution on the affected areas of the mattress. You can also spray it all over the surface of the bed if you want to disinfect it. Give it an hour to get rid of the stains. Once the stains are already gone, wipe the surface of the mattress using a damp towel. Allow it to dry completely before using it again.

2. You can use milk or hair spray to get rid of stubborn ink stains. Soak a cotton pad in milk and place the cotton pad on the stained area of the mattress. It will absorb the ink stains. Hair spray also works in the same way. Just spray the affected area. Once the stains have already been dissolved, you can wipe the area clean using a damp towel.

3. To get rid of blood stains, use hydrogen peroxide. Apply hydrogen peroxide on the blood-stained areas and immediately sprinkle some table salt. The table salt will absorb the blood. Once it has absorbed the stains, wipe it off using a clean absorbent towel.

4. For pee stains, you can use vinegar. But as a substitute, lemon juice will work just as well. Mix lemon juice and water. Pour the mixture in a spray bottle. Spray it on the affected areas. This will also help get rid of pee smell. Let it stay there for about an hour.

After an hour, sprinkle baking soda on the stained parts. This will help get rid of lingering pee smell and absorb excess moisture in the foam layers. Vacuum your mattress to remove baking soda residues.

You can find effective cleaners at home. Find out what kind of stain it is and use the appropriate cleaning solutions.
