EnviroCitizen.org has been contacted today by the William J. Clinton Foundation for help in getting the word out on an extremely worthy cause. We are excited and encouraged by their efforts and support them completely. We would like to encourage our EnviroCitizens to support them as well.
In summary, the Clinton Foundation's initiatives address various global challenges, including climate change and sustainable development. Both are issues that we support passionately here at EnviroCitizen.org. The Foundation, as an Earth Day initiative, is attempting to distribute 20,000
solar flashlights to the earth quake victims in Haiti. We think this is a very worthy and noble idea. In order to achieve their goal, the Clinton Foundation needs your help. They need you to go to their website,
www.clintonfoundation.org/earthday, and take a 10 question quiz. For each completed quiz, $2 will be donated toward the purchase of solar flashlights for people with no electricity, especially those living in camp sites, in Haiti.
Here is some additional information, as provided by the Clinton Foundation:
In celebration of the 40th Earth Day, the Clinton Foundation has embarked upon a campaign to Take Initiative for Earth Day by raising awareness about the work we are doing to avert climate change and promote environmentally friendly policies through reforestation, waste management, building retrofit, and energy programs. This year, as a part of our Earth Day campaign, we are working to donate 20,000
solar-powered flashlights to those living without electricity in camps in Haiti. In order to do so, we need 100,000 people to take our Earth Day quiz. On Earth Day itself, Digg Dialogg will be hosting a special interview with President Clinton on the environment, Earth Day, and how you can "Take Initiative" to address climate change.
Through his Foundation's initiatives, President Clinton addresses global challenges, including climate change, childhood obesity, and sustainable development. Now, he wants you to Take Initiative on Earth Day. The Clinton Foundation has launched a website, www.clintonfoundation.org/earthday, that has four actions you can take to learn more about climate issues and help make a difference. First, they have launched a climate quiz that lets you test your knowledge about the environmentand it has a twist. For every person who takes the quiz, $2 will be donated toward buying solar flashlights for people without access to electricity living in camps in Haiti. Their goal is for 100,000 people to take the quiz so that they can donate 20,000 flashlights to internally displaced people in Haiti. All you have to do to "Take Initiative" to help Haiti and the environment is take the 10-question quiz. Also, you can also get informed about the Foundation's climate initiatives and sign up to participate in a local event in Chicago, Little Rock, or New York. And the capstone to their Earth Day campaign is a special Digg Dialogg on April 22 in which President Clinton will answer climate questions submitted through Digg. Get the details about the online event and the other activities on http://www.clintonfoundation.org/earthday.
Remember, every day is Earth Day. April 22, is the day we set aside to reflect on that reality.
Happy Earth Day!!
