Cloud Computing Secures My Small Business

I own a restaurant which was broken into and my desktop computer I had for the business was stolen

. All the records related to my business were in that computer. These things happen, so it wasnt the end of the world, but having to reconstruct all my records was something I didnt want to do ever again. I decided to have a backup file on a separate flash disk which I updated after closing time every day.

I was talking to a regular customer who works in the IT sector about my obsession of always having a separate backup file due to what happened. He told me that there was a cloud computing solution to address my problem.

There are cloud computing companies that will handle my data as well as my software. My data and software are stored in another location and through the internet I can access them. The company will also perform continues backup of my data throughout the day. If my restaurant was broken into again and the computer stolen all the thief would have is the computer. My data and programs would all be safe at the cloud computing company.

He recommended me a reliable company called GoKey, but I told him that I didnt want anything expensive and he said that this was a misconception. In the world of Saas (Software as a service) you just pay for what you need. It could be for one computer terminal to thousands of computer terminals and the associated software and data.

He compared it to a restaurant where you only order for what you need and what you can afford. There is no need for you to own the place, hire chefs and waiters so that you can get service and food. Just order what you need good for one or hundreds of persons.

Since the cost involved was only a very affordable monthly fee, I decided to give it a try. If things did not work out there was nothing for me to remove or dispose of since no additional hardware was needed and I already had internet connection. The software used would still be the same kind of Microsoft programs that I used before.

I am more than happy with the results. My obsession to always backup data has gone away. The monthly subscription also includes constantly updated firewalls and anti-virus protection to totally secure my data so I no longer have to personally handle this matter; its all done by the cloud computing company. Nor do for outside I have to call help since issues like software incompatibility and having to remove a program for other programs to work, etc. no longer exists. The cloud computing company handles these issues and you can call them when necessary. I have actually saved money in these areas.

Now Im making plans to open my second restaurant and of course I will use cloud computing to make sure my data is secured. Since I can open my computer terminal in any computer or smart phone with internet connection I can also monitor and manage my business while on the go.
