Coming Soon - The new iPhone 4
The most eagerly awaited mobile phone release of 2010, the iPhone 4, is almost upon us. And by the looks of the things the developers at Apple have been working overtime to produce what can only be described as a stunning handset.
All of the old favourites we have come to know and love from previous models are still there. The excellent homescreen layout allows for an expansive collection of apps to be installed, the single button fascia still looks great and iTunes remains the best platform for downloading music and apps. Alongside these are a barrage of new features that will make the user fall in love with the phone all other again. To start with the camera facility has seen a marked improvement. The iPhone 4 is capable of shooting high definition video footage. At a rate of 30 frames per seconds, the film is captured in 720 progressively scanned lines of resolution, or what is more commonly known as 720P, the hallowed minimum resolution required to be classified as high definition. This camera is backed up by a secondary unit on the front of the handset. The primary use for this camera is to allow "Face Time" calls. This is Apples take on video calling. Despite being around for a few years know, Apples new found love for the system will undoubtedly spark new interest and could become one of the key features on this new model. The focal length on this camera has been pre designed to work at arms length, also making this snapper great for self portraits as you can view the desired image on the screen.
Speaking of the screen, the one found in the iPhone 4 is the best you will find anywhere. Displaying a mammouth 960 x 640 resolution, it knocks spots off the other competition available. The LED backlit display is capable of producing a staggering 326 pixels per square inch. The black colours are naturally deep and rich, and even the most complex of web pages maintains the clearest quality even when zoomed in. Given that this handset is capable of recording and playing back high definition video, this is perhaps where the screen comes in to its own, such footage looks stunning and responds well to even the fastest moving image. The screen is the same measurement as on previous models at 3.5", however the chassis that houses this has shaved off a few millimetres in depth and with, making the unit look all together more compact than before. Apple seem to have pulled out all of the stops with regards to this handset. With a host of exciting handsets due to hit the shelves this summer, including the Nokia N8 and the HTC Wildfire, it seems that the iPhone for has the technology and design to set the pace in this particular race.
