Contribution to International Legal Communication
Since the beginning of civilization, there was a need to communicate with people using a different language
. Today, bilingual communication is increasingly important between nations, particularly English translated into other languages for business and development. My contribution to improve international communication in legal matters is a Bilingual Legal Terminology Dictionary, which is now available in different formats at bookorders@rosedogbooks.com
This useful dictionary contains more than 44,000 legal terms and phrases in English and Spanish. As a translator and law student, I collected countless glossaries, which I put together to have a useful reference for attorneys, investors, translators, interpreters, students, etc. The Work contains terms derived from globalization and other terms used in Latin America, including terms used in Spain.
Legal translation requires specialized professionals knowledgeable in different legal systems and excellent command of both languages. However, many decision makers usually have to rely on their particular knowledge and understanding or any available translator to carry out business transactions.
For this reason, this specialized legal dictionary is a "must have" reference at law schools, embassies, government agencies, NGOs, banks, law firms, international corporations in English and Spanish-speaking countries. The third most commonly-used-language in Internet is Spanish. Globalization requires good bilingual dictionaries in specialized fields.
International companies of the industrialized world make use of all kinds of contracts written in English. Likewise, there is a need in Spanish-speaking countries to understand and communicate in English. On the other hand, a New Mexico, California, or Florida attorney or notary should have this dictionary on a cellphone for a quick reference when dealing with Hispanic clients. This also applies to lawyers in Spanish-speaking countries to communicate with attorneys from different regions of the world.
Like Latin, English in legal communication is here to stay. Law offices, universities, bar associations, and research centers in Latin American need to get this kind of dictionary to communicate more effectively with English-speaking lawyers, investors, and business persons from other parts of the world. By the same token, Latin American consulates and embassies in English-speaking countries should have this useful reference. Better understanding in communication means that more business opportunities can be open.
Finally, international business communication is directly affected by legal systems. In this respect, this tool is a comprehensive legal dictionary, including some financial, managerial, banking, accounting and other terms and phrases relating to law. Sample is available upon request, the writer is a regular newspaper contributor.
