You Need E-mail Subscribers

Yes, RSS feeds are great. No doubt about it. They are non-intrusive, and don't have to bypass spam filters. But you have no influence over whether or not people will open their feed reader, whereas most people check their e-mail at least once a day. So you need to convert at least some of these online readers to subscribers of your list.

Use an Autoresponder

Before you start work on attracting subscribers, you need a reliable autoresponder. Like many others, I recommend Aweber. It's not perfect, but it's the best one I've tried so far. Create a Bait

Many people offer a free report or video as a reward for joining their list. You could do the same, but it's even better if you always write such good content that you can ask people to subscribe, in order for them not to miss out on any of your future writings. Put a box at the end of each post saying: "Did you like this post? Then please subscribe by e-mail, and I'll send you a small reminder each time I make a new post."

What Should You Put In Your E-mail?

Your post is written, and you're ready to acquire some visitors. Before writing the e-mail, setup your "from" address. Make it either your name or your product, or a combination of both. It should be something by which people will remember you. If subscribers start out by receiving an e-mail from John Doe, they might think: "Who's that? Did I really sign up for anything from that guy?" And then either delete the mail and/or accuse you of spamming.
