Social work is actually a profession in which social workers reshape or modify the salient features of the social system to help disadvantaged people to adopt the values and norms of the society. This is possible in various social events.

It surfaced as an occupation for the reason that of the primary endeavors of benevolent groups, and churches to do away with deficiency, to offer dutiful relief to the deprived, endorse strength of will, perk up economy, to take care of children, and aged ones, and to correct the unlawful. In this profession, group of individuals or people acquire a specialized training to help people by reshaping or modifying the social conditions of people through social events. The training guides the workers to assist people in adjusting the badly affected economic and social life because of family clashes, personal conflicts, social disorganization, poverty and poor health, as it enhances the social competence. Workers conduct several preventive programs according to the need of hour, although they not only formulate the social welfare strategies.

A specific individual is assisted in case work method for social good. It is for the mentally or physically unfit, needy or socially handicapped. Social workers get their problems diagnosed with the help of physicians, or psychiatrists and provide the solution accordingly by first understanding the psychology and sociology of the individuals.

There are also group work method in social events which is represented by gymnasiums, classrooms, social settlements and playgrounds. The socially handicapped members of community are usually called for conducting some productive activities at such places. For this reason, assistance and services of volunteers are availed for carrying out poverty schemes for people in disadvantageous social state. Community organizations raise and administer funds for disadvantaged communities with the aid and support of public as well as private agencies.
