Location is also very important. If you have built the house for your own pets, you should keep it within the boundaries of your territory. If you want stray animals to take shelter in it, you can place it at places where they will most likely pass.

Ducks can be easy targets for predators because they usually do not fly and their heavy bodies slows down their pace. One should also ensure that the house is equipped with good drainage and ventilation systems to keep the duck house clean at all times.
