Dane Cook Tickets - Comedian Dane Cook Continues Film Career
Comedian Dane Cook may be known primarily for his standup
, but that doesn't mean he is putting his film career on the back burner. Quite the contrary, as he announced two big-screen projects in July. The first is Guns, Girls & Gambling, which will see Cook sharing the stage with Gary Oldman, Christian Slater and Sam Trammell (best known for his role as Sam Merlotte on HBO's vampire series True Blood).
MTV.com reports that Cook and the rest of the cast of Guns, Girls & Gambling, which will be directed by Michal Winnick (who helmed the indie thriller Shadow Puppets), began shooting in Utah on July 6. The Freefall Films flick tells the story of what happens after an American Indian artifact is stolen during a poker game and will see Cook playing a corrupt sheriff alongside Trammell's no-nonsense sheriff.
The second film project Cook is working on is the indie horror-comedy Detention, which chronicles a batch of teens struggling to survive their final year of high school while battling a slasher-movie killer come to life. Detention is the second feature for Joseph Kahn (who has been in the news as of late for directing the music video for Eminem and Rihanna's current chart-topper "Love the Way You Lie") and will see actor Josh Hutcherson-who can be seen in the indie film The Kids Are All Right starring Annette Bening, Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo-toplining and executive producing. The $10 million Detention is scheduled to begin shooting in Los Angeles in late August, according to Variety.
Although Guns, Girls & Gambling and Detention have yet to receive official release dates, fans of comedian Dane Cook can see him perform standup comedy this fall. Dane Cook tickets are available to see the no-holds-barred comic at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles and Madison Square Garden in New York this fall. Dane Cook will perform a two-night stand at the Greek on Oct. 2 and 3 before heading to the Big Apple to headline Madison Square Garden on Nov. 15.
In addition to his own mini-tour, Dane Cook is among the comedians lined up for the 2010 New York Comedy Festival, which runs Nov. 3-7. The 2010 NYCF is presented in association with Comedy Central, reports Stage Time Magazine, and will also feature performances by Aziz Ansari, Adam Carolla, Louis CK, Margaret Cho, Kevin Hart, Gabriel Iglesias, Luis Jimenez, Joel McHale, Rosie O'Donnell, Brian Regan, Nick Swardson and others.
This isn't the first time Cook has performed at the NYCF, which is produced by Carolinas on Broadway and United Entertainment Group. Some of the nation's top comedians like Tracy Morgan, Sarah Silverman, Artie Lange, Bill Maher, Joy Behar and Denis Leary have performed at the NYCF in the past.
One of the first comics to create buzz online with his own website, Dane Cook first emerged out of the Boston suburb of Arlington, Mass. and onto the comedy scene when he was still in his teens. Despite being hailed Rolling Stone's "Hot Comic," making Time Magazine's list of the world's "Most Influential People" and winning Comedy Central's Standup Showdown, Cook continues to respond personally to fans through danecook.com.
