Dane Cook Tickets - Cook Expands Empire With Upcoming Album
As a comedian, actor and musician of sorts, Dane Cook is a triple-threat to the entertainment
industry, a rare and hilarious gem with overflowing talent. Cook has tackled several different roles and events throughout his blossoming career, and now he's up for the adventure of the lifetime, as he's just announced an upcoming musical collaboration with none other than hard rock legend Tommy Lee.
The Motley Crue drummer and rock 'n' roll extraordinaire has agreed to work with Cook on an upcoming project, leaving audiences puzzled as to what direction this venture will flow. Explaining to MTV News the development of the Tommy Lee/Dane Cook collaboration, Cook recently said, "I used to love Motley Crue growing up and [Lee is] a big fan of mine. I called him the other day and I said, 'Would you collaborate on this thing that I put together?'" After using select curse words, Cook said that Lee agreed, and the upcoming album between these two masterminds features, as Cook described, a Jack Johnson-style of music with a jazz-influenced appeal.
What's to come from a Dane Cook/Tommy Lee collaboration is yet to be defined, though with these two strong personalities the final result is sure to be exhilarating. Lee, best known for his Motley Crue years, rose to fame through songs like "Dr. Feelgood" and "Girls, Girls, Girls," while Dane Cook took the more comical approach and earned the limelight for stints on Comedy Central programs and as a standup comedian, later crossing over into comedy films like the blockbuster hits Employee of the Month, Good Luck Chuck and My Best Friend's Girl.
Dane Cook isn't just satisfied with his domination of the comedy circuit and recent film stardom, though. This observational humorist has been selling out Dane Cook tickets to his comedy shows for years, but he's also been gaining steam in the recording industry, having released a number of comedy records since 2004, when he debuted Harmful If Swallowed.
Cook's comedy albums have been nothing but wildly popular since the mid-2000s, and successive albums like Retaliation (2005) and ISolated INcident (2009) have both absolutely soared, becoming Top 10 hits on the Billboard 200. In between his cocky but brilliant standup routine, however, Dane Cook has also strived for more, hoping to add the title of musician to his repertoire.
With the upcoming Dane Cook/Tommy Lee collaboration, perhaps Cook will emerge from his currently recognized ground as a comedian and rise up to mainstream status as a respected recording artist, proving to the world that his hilarious and often over-the-top humor can be sized down to let music in. Cook has been an aspiring musician for years despite his standup cover, playing the guitar from his youth. "It's pretty tricky when you're a comedian to make the transition," Cook said of crossing over from comedy to mainstream music. "It's pretty tricky to release stuff that's non-comedic. When you're primarily known as a comedian, it's sometimes tough to go outside that box and be taken seriously, especially in music."
Perhaps, then, Tommy Lee will provide a little assistance, as the respected hard rocker doesn't mess around when it comes to his music. Tommy Lee and Dane Cook will soon be hard at work on an upcoming album, and while the entire entertainment industry can't wait to catch a glimpse of what the Lee/Cook collaboration holds, fans of Cook's can still snatch tickets to his upcoming comedy routines.
