Digital Photography : An Introduction

Digital photography is a form of photography that uses an array of light sensitive

sensors to capture the image focused by the lens, as opposed to an exposure on light sensitive film. The captured image is then stored as a digital file ready for digital processing, viewing or printing. Until the advent of such technology, photographs were made by exposing light sensitive photographic films and used chemical photographic processing to develop the image. By contrast, digital photos can be displayed, printed, stored, manipulated, transmitted, and archived using digital and computer techniques, without chemical processing.

Digital photography uses an electronic sensor to record the image as a piece of electronic data rather than as chemical changes on film. Some other devices, such as cell phones, now include digital photography features. A digital memory device is used to store the images, which may be transferred to computer later to see the bigger image and if needed some amendements can be done to the photographs taken. The quality of digital photographs mainly depends upon certain factors that make a nice difference between ordinary and digital photographs. The factors like the quality og digital camera itself, lens quality and its resolution, the format of captured photos like RAW or JPEG etc, the processing of the pictures that means the pictures are digitally processed or chemically processed.

Digital photography has put its tremendous impact on the society in its viewpoint on how the people see the photographs. Throughout the history of photography, technological advances in camera production, developing, and imaging have had an effect on the way people view images. Previously most printed photographs were black and white, and need to generate color photos began to rise. Photographic images have always been prone to fading and loss of image quality due to sun exposure or improper storage of film negatives and prints. Since digital images are stored as data on a computer, the image never loses visual quality, detail, or fidelity as long as the digital media remains intact.

There are some tips to be followed by every photographer while taking digital photographs. Don't buy expensive cameras, the digital photographs can be taken with inexpensive digital camers so no need to spend more on expensive cameras. Use tripod, if someone has shaking hands while taking shots then its better to use tripod and get better pictures by setting time etc. Take photos regularly,

try to photograph something every day. If you cant do that, make sure you take time to practice regularly, so you dont forget what youve learned.
