There was a time when a garden centre was simply somewhere where you would see a

few plants and shrubs outside a shop with some handy garden tools on display and inside you may have found packets of seeds, sacks of bird feed and displays of some ornaments.

How that has changed. Today it is a superb den of wonderful discovery. You can see an amazing display of beautiful flowers, shrubs and plants. These are often divided up into sections such as Mediterranean and Alpine which makes planning for your plot much easier. Going for a walk around a local centre for gardens can really be a lovely experience as day trip out. The trees, bushes and shrubs are an absolute wonder to see and so very tempting that its easy to come away with a barrowful of products. It can be very exciting too racing home to begin preparation and planting. You will no doubt also be buying plant feed, compost, snail repellent and all kinds of other products to help get the best out of your planting strategy.

However garden centres are not just about plants. Take a wander further away from the plants and you will see a superb range of garden furniture. Bistro and tea for two set sounds fabulous on a sunny afternoon or a companion set when you just want a little quiet rest time with your partner before the digging begins again. When the going gets really hot, how about a sun lounger? Of course for those with real discerning taste and a sense of luxury you could go for the elegant sofa and bring your garden alive like a new living room. Wooden rattan and weave, metal or cast aluminium, at a first class centre you will find all these options.

Does the thought of going out and trailing around a centre still fill you with weary tiredness? Well, you can wander around an online garden centre and still find exactly what you need. From benches, swing seats, picnic tables and parasols, there is everything. You wont want to stop there when you see barbecues, log cabins, sheds, planters, arbours and arches. Just think of all the beautiful scenery you can create with trailing and climbing flowers and greenery.

You can also become more creative and look at paving and garden decking kits and if the thought of approaching winter gets you down then get an outdoor fireplace.
