Rugs lived with its own share of history

Rugs lived with its own share of history. It travelled from time to time, as the years went by it also travelled until to this day and it will continue to go along with our fast changing trend and culture. Have we ever wondered how rugs are discovered, was it like any other invention that is recognized and placed on history. Was there a documentation of who made it first, what was it made of or how was it made of? And why was it even called rugs?

Those were just some of the many questions anybody who have great interest on rugs may ask but for some who don't, they might not even ask anything about rugs. But then again there is more to rugs than what we use to call "rugs" because it also has its share of history that may let us think again of our rugs. It may seem not that appealing than any other history but indeed it's a one great to know events. Although, rugs wasn't invented by a scientist or a genius but it is made to serve a great purpose on the time it was made and up to this very moment that you are reading this.

The timeline of rugs are similar to man's existence in the universe, because it has been used as early as the ancient times. Its purpose may vary at some point but then it has evolved as ages came. It was said that rugs were first made 4000 years ago in Mesopotamia and Egypt due to the fragments found while some would say that it started in some parts of Asia around 2000 BC, but then none of us could really attest to that. What's important is it was made to serve its purpose and be a gift to the following generation.

It has been said that the first rugs were made from the sheep's fur since it is as thick as wool and it was quite of use for them especially on the cold season. They would then weave the thick wool of the sheep and designed it like a large piece of cloth, large enough to soothe them on the cold season. On the other hand, others would utilize it as clothing, or a rug placed on the floor of their homes for sitting and sleeping. With the onset of new technologies, rugs are produced with more purpose to serve and artistry to show.

One event in the history of rugs that is relevant is the discovery of Pazyryk, which is known to be the oldest rug that endured the test of time. It was found in a burial area in Siberia by a Russian Archeologist Sergei Rudenko. It was said to be covered with ice which paved the way for the preservation of its fabric, color and design. It simply goes to show that art was indeed inevitable on rugs at any point in time. After all, great things starts from small beginnings.
