There are a huge number of different species of plants here that are located on 2 separate reserves. In fact, there are 1300 different types of plants which represent 30% of all the plants found in Bulgaria! However, not only are there a lot of different types of plants, but most are endemic to this region. This means that they are not found anywhere else on earth. Pirin is certainly not short on animal life either. There are 45 species of mammals representing 50% of the animals in the whole country!
