Double Checking Your Products Will Save You Money
There are lots of things, situations and circumstances which can derail the best system
, the most effective process, however when these problems are joined with a bad system or process, the results could be damaging. There will always be problems, delays from suppliers, shortages or just plain old human error. And while not every problem is completely avoidable, it is inevitable that something will eventually go wrong; how you prepare for the crises and how you react to the crisis can mean the difference between a problem, and a cataclysmic event which can derail your entire operation.
It could be simple, there is something that you could do that would make all of the problems you face irrelevant, and that is just don't have any problems; don't make any mistakes and nobody that has anything to do with your operation can make any mistakes. Wishing and hoping that nobody makes any mistakes and nobody messes up and nothing breaks is laughable, it's never going to happen.
So how do you prepare for the inevitability that something will go wrong and is going to go wrong. You know that it is coming, so you might as well be ready for it. The first thing to have in mind is a plan. But this plan isn't something that's just for when the bad things start to happen. You should have a plan, a system in place for how things are supposed to work and a proper flow of how the material and supplies come through the factory and how they are quality checked and the process involved with keeping the bad parts off the floor and out of whatever it is you are building.
Sounds complicated, but it isn't. Who checks the parts as they come in from suppliers? Are they just visually checked or are there other tests that need to be done to make certain that they perform to specifications? How is the supplier notified if there happens to be a problem and how is the problem tracked from start to finish?
These are important parts of being prepared and should all be things that are used in the overall process of whatever it's you are doing or building. Buying good parts that meet all of your specifications, whether off the shelf or specially manufactured should be a priority in the running of any efficient organization or company.
