Electric Charging Station Of The Future

At the Design Miami Exhibition Audi showed off its interpretation of how it envisages the electric recharging station of its future e-tron models

. The exhibit was designed by Munich based designer Mirko Borshe and is not like your typical Audi Servicing in Norfolk type set-up.

Mirko Borshe has taken into account the fact that an e-tron or electrically propelled vehicle of the future will need a little longer to be refuelled or recharged compared to the traditional fuel powered models. The design takes into consideration that the driver of these electric cars may need some work space, dining space or just relaxing space to recharge their batteries while their car recharges its.

Peter Schwarzenbauer, Member of the Audi Board of Management for Marketing and Sales said at the exhibition, Our aim in creating this installation is to heighten the public's awareness of the wide range of challenges electro mobility presents. And we provide food for thought - not just about electric vehicles themselves, but also about the infrastructure that will have to be created to support electric mobility.

Audi named the concept fuelling station e-den, the mirror-walled exterior of the Audi 'e-den' installation is a futuristic reinterpretation of a 1950s American 'gas station'. The traditional fuel pump is enshrined in glass like a museum piece. Inside, the atmosphere is much more warm and homely, with calm-inducing plants and warm wood furniture from sustainable, fair-trade sources creating the perfect ambiance in which to enjoy the organic food, magazines and books that are also on offer.

At the centre piece of this concept fuelling station was Audis concept e-tron spider sports car, in reality though the Audi R8 e-tron will be the first production model for Audi, due to be introduced in 2012.
