Selena Gomes whose full name reads Selena Marie Gomes is a world famous American singer cum songwriter cum actress. Selena is a lead singer of the pop rock band called Selena Gomes and the Scene. Selena is also known for her role of Alex Russo in the Emmy award winning Disney channel series "wizards of Waverly place." She has also acted in Disney's Cinderella movie. Recently, she made her film debut with "Beezus" in 2010.
Early life
Gomez was born on November 2, 1992 in Texas. Her mother Mandy Teefey was a theatre artist. It was while watching her mother to perform in theatres that she first began to take interest in acting.
Rise to stardom
Gomez started her acting career when she was only seven. Her role of Gianna in Barney and Friends was lapped up by people from across the country. She also played cameos in Spy Kids 3-D and Texas Ranger.
Gomez' career received a fillip when she was signed by Disney Channels in 2000. Her appearance in "wizards of Waverly place" shot her to international recognition.
Music career
Gomez did a music video for Disney where she gave her voice to the song"Cruella de Vil". As the song became popular, Selena took to music seriously and recorder three more songs for Cinderella album Disney Mania. She also lent her voice to the song "Fly to Your Heart" for the 2008 animated film Tinker Bell.
In the same year, Gomez also featured with "Forever the Sickest Kids" and sung a dote version of "Whoa Oh".
In May, of the same year, Gomez was featured with Forever the Sickest Kids, on a duet version of the non-album song "Whoa Oh!"
Selena formed her teen band Selena Gomes and the Scene in 2009. The band released its debut album Kiss and Tell in 2009. "Kiss and Tell" was certified Gold by RIAA.
