Lead generation companies are always looking for ways to add to their database. Clients hire them on the strength and diversification of their data. Call centers that can cater to different sections of the demographics with the help of their database are most in demand. Sensing this growing need to add to the database, many call center units try to procure databases from various sources. Some of them are authentic sources, while others are dubious. The main reason for them acquiring these databases is to add to their kitty. Sales lead generation takes time and if they don't have that on their hands, they resort to these quick fixes. But there are some serious disadvantages of getting such databases onboard. Other than the astronomical money that you have to pay, these databases do not add much value to your business.

Many of these databases have been used and done to death. The outbound call center agents working for you cannot wrest any leads out of these. Generally, the email ids on these lists are people who are now tired of receiving promotional emails. They are least likely to convert into sales and the resources that the BPO unit uses to tap them will go down the drain. It's a much better idea to tap into the online traffic that you get and generate leads from those sources. Clients and brands often have websites that consumers can write to or simply visit. Call centers can track the traffic that come in. These users can then be hunted down and their email ids procured.

The BPO writers can write to these users because they have already shown an interest in the brand or the client that you are working to promote/market. You will be able to cut more ice with them than totally disinterested consumers. Email lists are not going to work for you that way. It's better if you create an email list of your own by sourcing email ids from traffic visits. Encourage your users to write emails to you or subscribe to your newsletter. Newsletters are a great way to reach out and connect with your external and internal publics. Answering emails written by the users can easily quality as great customer service.

Email lists are often misleading in terms of data. It may take the lead generation process to a completely different trajectory. For example, you may end up making telemarketing calls to people who don't exist! Email lists often contain defunct email ids, ids of people who are now dead or simply not using that id anymore. These databases are hardly cleaned and are packed with spam traps, bots and other ways that email service providers use to prevent spamming. BPO units have to ensure that they are using a clean database whenever they think of sending emails. You can make better inroads at sales lead generation if you are doing things the right way, even if it happens to be the harder way.
