Safety training is one of the first priorities which need to be attended to by organizations
which have a major strength of their work force operating heavy and massive machines in workshops and plants. This form of training is imparted to the workers by the safety officer or the individual who is in charge of safety before they proceed to the factory with the three-fold objective of ensuring the safety of the workers, guaranteeing protection to the company's assets and helping to realize the organization's goals.
Although different organizations employ a variety of methods for providing safety training to their employees, there are certain basic techniques which form a part of every training program like preparation of the training material. This literature is prepared prior to the commencement of the session and must bear relevance to the tasks and job descriptions of the employees within the company and hence is different for every organization. People who are responsible of preparing this material are required to first conduct a thorough in-house survey to determine the content, compile the material in simple and precise language and ensure that it conforms to the rules and regulations specified by the government in this matter.
Like all other lectures, seminars on safety tend to be boring as well unless made interesting through the usage of several forms of training materials and a generous dosage of creativity. Incorporation of practical sessions through mock operations and emergency exercises would further tend to enhance and retain the concentration of students.
Safety training in most organizations is the domain of the safety committee which consists of well trained safety officers whose job is to provide safety education to employees at all levels starting from managers and supervisors to machine operators and daily wage workers.
