Exactly How Does Liposuction Work?

Liposuction (also known as lipoplasty and suction lipectomy) is a very popular thing in today's world

. Every year, hundreds of thousands of people undergo this surgery in the United States alone. In other areasof the world, the surgery is similarly popular.

However, even though the procedure is very popular, there are a lot of things that people don't understand about it. Many people don't even understand what the surgery and how it works.

Lipoplasty is a surgical procedure which is designed to take excess and unwanted fat and remove it from the body. It cannot work effectively at removing fat from the whole body, but it is very good at removing fat from specific areas.

The procedure is performed by a surgeon who uses a special instrument called a cannula to break up and suction out the fat. A cannula is a hollow needle which is hooked up to a vacuum machine. The doctor anesthetizes the patien (usually with a local painkiller), makes small incisions and then inserts a cannula. As the doctor breaks down the fat, he or she is able to vacuum it out of the body.

The process generally takes somewhere between one and several hours. The patient is typically kept conscious during this time so that he or she can give feedback and help make sure that the surgery is going right. However, because of the painkillers, no pain should be felt. If a patient is too nervous to be able to relax effectively, then the doctor may give him or her an anti-anxiety medication of some sort to help with that.

After the surgery, the patient needs to be driven home, because he or she may still be experiencing some amount of wooziness. There is usually some amount of pain and discomfort after the anesthetic wears off. However, this is usually not too severe, and it can usually be controlled with over the counter pain medication. The pain will typically get steadily better as the patient heals.

Some amount of swelling or bruising is relatively common after a liposuction, but this typically begins to disappear relatively soon after the surgery, and it will continue to fade as time goes on.

If you would like more information about lipoplasties and how they are performed, you should consider speaking with a surgeon in your area. He or she should be able to answer any questions that you might have, and most surgeons are willing to meet with potentially interested clients for free consultations.
