A lot of Med school students are curious about the percentage of applicants as it depends on where you are planning to go. Competition for medical school is difficult almost everywhere, but its good to the difference between state schools and private schools.
State schools are more selective than private schools in giving apps. But private schools tend to give secondary apps who sends primary apps. They want only money, and they charge about $80 per secondary apps.
KEEP YOUR WALLET READY
We all know that the amount we have to pay while submitting the primary application will increase yearly. I paid about $250 for my first application and $30 more for each school i applied to. My primary education ended at $500 and each secondary at $80.
Annually the primary apps opens at June 1.It will be open until Oct 15.Any time during that period you can fill the apps; however many of the students might have filled the apps by June 1 so that they can submit as soon as the school opens.
They do like this because the schools starts to review primary apps and stars sending out secondaries and interviews.
As soon as you send your application you are more likely to have a chance of secondaries and interviews.
The matter that works out here is that As soon as you submit your primary you can get secondary from school. Some private schools even send secondary without reading your primary. But state schools will take some time to send secondary.
The secondary you get ,fill out ASAP. After that you may get interview at any time. Most schools starts interviews by September. If we are at the top place there is a chance of getting interview in September itself or even in august.
The season of interview is from September to the last of February. That's pretty much the cycle. Here almost all the schools, especially the state schools admit pupils on a rolling basis. That means after our interview they will let us know whether we are admitted or wait listed in that one month itself.
If you have applied to a big institution like Penn or Harvard, I think they have a universal announce date around mid-March. Then once you know which school accepted you, you have time to make a choice until May 15th by sending a form. At the same time you have to withdraw the forms from the school you are against.
