What are you Grateful For?
As Melody Beattie says:
"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow."
It is human nature to take your existence and everything inside of it for grant it. How many times a day do you stop to think about the things that you are grateful for in your life? "What have I got to be grateful for?" Look around you. If you aren't grateful for what you already have then why would there be any reason for you to receive anymore?
We ask and even pray for many things in our life and just hope that we get it or that things work out. Sometimes they do and sometimes they may not. Gratefulness brings with it a feeling of appreciation and joy. It comes from the heart and makes you feel good about what you already have. It raises your energetic vibration resonating harmony and bringing to you circumstances and events that you desire.
Knowing and appreciating the gifts that you have been given throughout your life can only lead you down the path to success and happiness. In light of your busyness you need to take the time to be thankful. How many times do you say thank you throughout your day? When you get your pay check, when you have a great experience or a challenge at work, when you meet the partner that you always wanted, or when you get a clean bill of health do you say thank you? How many times do you thank the cells in your body for keeping you healthy and well? The list of things for you to be grateful for could go on and on.
There are so many things that we have to be grateful and thankful for in our lives and yet we tend to take things for grant it. We expect to have what we desire yet when we get it do we celebrate by saying thank you?
When you are not expressing gratitude for the outcome of something then you are resisting it. You are focusing on what you don't want. Whatever you resist will persist so rather than being in appreciation for whatever the outcome is and receiving what you want; you are resisting which means you are likely to receive more of what you don't want.
Do you share your successes and accomplishments with others?
We think that by telling other's we are bragging. That is what we have been conditioned to believe however it is not true. Sharing comes from the heart and bragging is satisfying your ego. It is not bragging to share something that inspires people. People love to hear about what you are doing. What may be something meaningless to you can be a triumph for another.
Grateful means appreciating everything that you have in your life including the challenges and unfavorable circumstances. These are part of life's situations and without them you are unable to grow. You may be asking yourself, "So how can I possibly be grateful when something bad happens to me or someone else?" There is no bad just as there is no good; everything just is the way it is. To associate something with being good or bad is placing judgment on it. It is the same as saying something is right or wrong. who said so?
You tell yourself all kinds of things based on your beliefs which come from your parents, TV, the newspapers and other people's opinions. You no longer have the ability to think for yourself so you follow what others do and believe everything and everyone around you. As you become more conscious you begin to realize this and understand the power of gratitude.
You say to be grateful for everything but what if I lose someone close to me? How can I be grateful for that?
When you lose someone you never really know the reasons why and it can be a very traumatic time in your life. The feelings of sadness and loss can be extremely overwhelming yet you never know the karmic path that their soul was on. To have faith is to know that they have returned home and will possibly return again. You can feel grateful for the time you had with them and share the memories with friends and family. You can feel gratitude for the lessons you learned from them while they were here and how they helped you to become more of the person you want to be. It is this gratefulness that will get you through times like this. With gratitude comes strength.
Why be Grateful?
Being grateful will bring you more of the things that you want for your life. It will help you to become the person that you need to be so that you can have everything that your heart desires. There are no limits only infinite possibilities.
It will help you to focus on the positive things in your life.
It helps you to see problems and challenges as opportunities.
It reminds you of what and who is important to you in your life.
Begin to have an attitude of gratitude and make it a part of your every day life.
Start a gratitude journal and take a minute each day to write down 3 things that you are grateful for.
Every time you receive something that is either expected or unexpected say thank you and feel the appreciation.
Whenever you are experiencing a challenge or undesirable circumstance say thank you feeling the appreciation once again.
If some unforeseen life situation occurs, look deep into your heart, past what has happened and see what there is to be grateful for.
Share your gratitude with friends and loved ones.
And refrain from taking things for granted.
If you want to experience the fullness of life then be grateful for all things.
