If an exhibition is a large scale public showing then its highest level can be called a Worlds Fair or Universal Expo or Expo
. The term Expo is an abbreviation derived from the word Exposition, and has a history of over one and half centuries.
The worlds first ever Expo was held in Crystal Palace at Hyde Park in London in 1851 and was called The Great Exhibition. This was the beginning of international exhibitions where manufactured items from all parts of the world were exhibited.
Expositions are categorized by their magnitude as major and minor but they are formally known as Registered Expositions and Recognized Expositions respectively. And there is even a third kind that is widely popular as the Horticultural Exhibitions.
The registered expositions are the biggest in terms of scale and widest in terms of themes and so since 21st century it was agreed to organize them every five years. And so the latest Worlds Fair will bring Shanghai, China to the limelight with the Expo 2010 Shanghai. The Expo 2010 will flaunt each countrys prowess and pride via disciplines like science, architecture and technology.
The exposition started on the first of May 2010 and will run till 31st of October 2010 with the participation of over 220 countries and global organizations. Shanghai is all braced to welcome a massive throng of 70 million visitors during these six eventful months where the daily visitor count has already surpassed well over 100,000.
This larger than life event is going to be the biggest as per the organizers and will dazzle the banks of Huangpu River that will snuggle numerous pavilions. Altogether there are eight types of pavilions and two types of public centres that will make up the venues of Expo 2010. These are neatly tucked away in five zones named from Zone A to Zone E. All pavilions will have breathtaking architectures and decor that will represent each countrys traditions, cultures and technology beautifully captured through innovation.
The biggest pavilions are the China Pavilion and Theme Pavilion. The China Pavilion could be the most glamorous for it is housed within a gigantic upside down bright red pyramid that amounts to the size of 35 football fields.
The participants of the Expo 2010 has many goals where the aim to build strong commercial partnership with China comes to the forefront. And it is also quite significant for the Chinese to be able to organize this type of major event especially when not too long ago almost all countries in the world suffered from the crisis of recession.
This years theme is Better City, Better Life which has set sights on the worldwide population growth and urban population growth. The Expo 2010 might be able to answer some of these issues backed by never before seen innovation and inspiration. Expo 2010 has already won the global attention, as well as the keen interest of prominent luminaries and most distinguished guests including the royalty and even the world leaders.
