Extra Equipment For Cell Phone Towers

Did you know that there are some cell phone towers that do not even look like a tower

? Some of them might be the cross at the top of a church steeple! Others cannot be mistaken for anything else they are the big, sky high towers we see on land along highways and freeways in the middle of some field somewhere. There are many different types of towers that cell phone companies can erect to improve their network service for their customers, and if you play your cards right, you might have one that looks nothing like a tower that can add to the uniqueness and beauty of the buildings you have on your land. In this article, we will explore some of the different types of towers and equipment that is used to keep them running like they are supposed to. If you have been approached about putting a tower up on your property, you probably are going to be interested in knowing what kind of extras are going to be included along with the tower that is going to be built that you will see.

Just like anything else, in order to build a cell phone tower, there are many different parts that are used. Most of those parts are actually owned by several different companies, each being responsible for the maintenance of those parts. Usually, a cell phone tower is built either by a tower company under contract with the wireless company who is needing to expand their network coverage for customers who need more reliable service in a certain area. There are different wireless carriers that use different ways of protecting their equipment, and many of them might place these outdoor cabinets on concrete pads, and others will prefer to use pre manufactured equipment shelters. This type of equipment is often referred to as base transmitter stations, or BTSs.

There are usually several different antennas that are on top of towers, so if you do have a tower built on your property, you are likely to see several different ones. Sometimes there are only three small ones, and other times on the biggest and tallest towers, you are likely to see as many as 18 per carrier. It all depends on their needs for communication and what the location of the tower is. You may have already guessed too that the more subscribers they have that are going to need the signal from the tower will call for more antennae to be built on top.
